Body oils can look deceptively similar in the bottle, but once they hit the skin, the differences become obvious. Some disappear almost instantly, others leave a glossy veil, and a few are really more about scent than serious moisture.
I compared these five based on texture, glow, hydration, transfer and how comfortable they feel for everyday use.

1. NERRĀ Dry Body Oil

Price: €62
Rating: 7/10
NERRĀ is easily the most intensely moisturising formula in this group. The texture itself is surprisingly light and dries down well, leaving only a soft sheen rather than an obvious oily layer. It also transfers very little once absorbed, which makes it much easier to wear under clothes.
The fragrance-free version does have a faint natural oil smell, but nothing overpowering. My main hesitation is actually the packaging: an oil in a glass bottle feels slightly risky in a bathroom, especially at this price. Still, for very dry skin that needs something more substantial than a basic lotion, the nourishing finish is impressive.

2. Aveeno Daily Moisturising Body Oil Mist

Price: €10.50
Rating: 10/10
If I had to pick the easiest oil here for everyday use, this would be it. Aveeno combines oat and jojoba oils in a lightweight mist that spreads quickly and absorbs without leaving that slippery feeling behind.
The warm almond-like scent is probably my favourite part. It lingers noticeably longer than expected, while the oil itself dries down almost completely. You get softness rather than a dramatic glow, so this is better for someone who wants comfortable hydration instead of shiny legs. It is also one of those products that requires almost no thought: spray, massage in, get dressed.

3. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Body Oil

Price: €7.49
Rating: 10/10
Palmer’s is thinner and more fluid than most oils on this list, which makes it incredibly easy to spread over damp skin after a shower. The warm cocoa-vanilla scent gives it that cosy, familiar feel and stays noticeable for a while without becoming too heavy.
Interestingly, this is not the richest formula despite the Cocoa Butter name. I find it more useful for daily softness and a subtle glow than for rescuing seriously dry skin. It absorbs with relatively little transfer, and considering the price, it is one of the easiest products here to repurchase without thinking twice.

4. Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Body Oil

Price: €7.95
Rating: 8/10
Vaseline wins when the goal is unapologetic glow. Its gel-oil texture is thicker and noticeably more occlusive than the others, leaving skin glossy almost immediately. The cocoa scent is warm and sweet, although I find the visual effect more memorable than the fragrance itself.
There is one obvious compromise: transfer. Even a small amount can remain noticeable on the skin, so this is not the oil I would apply five minutes before putting on delicate clothes. But for bare legs, shoulders or any moment when you actually want skin to look freshly glazed, it delivers beautifully.

5. Naturium The Glow Getter Body Oil

Price: €35
Rating: 9/10
Naturium sits nicely between a lightweight dry oil and a richer glow formula. It has enough body to feel nourishing, but it absorbs without leaving the same heavy film as Vaseline. The finish is especially pretty: not wet-looking, not completely dry, just a soft natural sheen that makes skin look healthier.
The formula includes squalane alongside jojoba, rosehip, olive and sea buckthorn oils, so it feels more skincare-focused than purely cosmetic. I also love layering it with fragrance because the warm scent works well without completely competing with perfume. My only minor complaint is the glass bottle, but the actual formula is one of the most balanced here.

Which One Would I Pick?

For maximum moisture, NERRĀ takes the lead, while Vaseline gives the strongest visible shine. Palmer’s is the easy budget favourite, and Aveeno is probably the most effortless everyday option. Naturium lands somewhere in the middle of everything: enough nourishment, a beautiful subtle glow and a texture that still feels comfortable.
If your main goal is soft skin without feeling covered in oil, I would start with Aveeno or Naturium. If you want that glossy, almost editorial body glow instead, Vaseline is the one that really shows up.
